TRANSITIONS IN FORM “FLUIDITY”

Rotation and shift are the two key design strategies I have explored through my three-dimensional form. My intentions were to utilise the rhinoplastic, wire, thread and clay elements to express a dynamic movement from my original precedent of a wave. I used cutouts in the rhinoplastic, to create leading lines to draw the eye around the form and expose the three aperture stretching movements. To create a fluid movement I incorporated density in the clay and sparseness in the apertures of the rhinoplastic.

I ensured that the transition shared a strong connection and I did this by curving the clay and the plastic in the same direction to create rhythm and repetition in the movement. I explored Shift in the positioning and scale of the end of the apertures moving up the wire and to create tension I incorporated thread at the end of the three apertures. I found that this was a strong way to pull the stretching tension of the plastic back to its original axis, the clay.
